Swan Contracts take our environmental duties very seriously that is why we have introduced the Chelsea range of furniture, which include dining, carver and armchairs along with round and square tables. The wood we use is Eucalyptus Diversicolour (Karri) which is a 100% fully FSC wood.
Eucalyptus Diversicolor (Karri) is a non-tropical hardwood. It has a life span of between 15 and 25 years.
The wood used in this product comes from forests, which are independently certified as ‘well managed’ by the Forest Stewardship Council. By using FSC wood products you are helping to prevent unsustainable use of the world’s forests. This means that any commercial activity in the forests, you will have to bear in mind the effect on traditional forest people, the loss of biodiversity of the habitat, land right conflicts and potential for increase of soil erosion.
The supply of certified wood is limited because of the strict standards as you can imagine that are required of FSC certified wood suppliers and manufacturers.
Products certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which ensures that the timber comes from environmentally and socially responsible sources. The FSC is the only internationally recognised forest certification scheme that can give rigorous and credible assurance that timber products come from well-managed forests. It is supported by environmental groups (including Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and WWF), progressive timber companies and many indigenous peoples organisations.
